Accepting Applications for the Dawn Gugler Activist Training Award-Deadline April 7th

What is the Dawn Gugler Trust?

The Trust is a charitable endowment whose earnings fund the Dawn Gugler Activist Training Award. The Trust was established early in 1997 in memory of Dawn Janelle Gugler, a volunteer and board member with OPIRG Guelph. A goal of $10,000 was set for the Trust. Funds were raised through charitable donations, a potluck, and two Art Auctions. The goal was achieved by the end of 1999.

In 2017, the Trust was moved to an investment in bonds based on solar energy projects and the award restarted after a period of being closed.

What is the purpose of the Award?

To provide financial assistance to OPIRG-Guelph members or action groups in obtaining training or education in an area consistent with OPIRG Guelph’s Mandate.

From the interest gained from the Trust, at least six hundred ($600) dollars per year will fund at least one (1) Dawn Gugler Activist Training Award each year.
