Wednesday! Panel discussion on Fossil Fuel Divestment at U of G

Wednesday March 9, 12-1pm
University Centre (UC) 103, U of G campus

What is fossil fuel divestment anyway?
Do you know what it means for U of G?

Now is your chance to ask those burning questions! Join Fossil Free Guelph as we host a panel discussion about divesting and responsible investment at the U of G.

The University of Guelph currently invests its endowment funds in some of the world’s largest oil, gas and coal companies. We believe that the university can and SHOULD do better with it’s investments. We want this “green” university to put it’s money where its mouth is!

Panelists:
1) John Cook: an investment management executive and registered portfolio manager.
2) Atiya Jaffar: a first generation immigrant from Pakistan and a climate justice activist who currently works as the digitial organizer for 350.org
3) Kirby Calvert: an Assistant Professor at the University of Guelph whose teaching and research focuses on energy and energy transitions through a geographic lens
4) Ben Bradshaw: an Associate Professor at the University of Guelph with expertise in environmental governance.

FREE!

Note: This room (UC103) is wheelchair/scooter accessible. Accessible washrooms are located on the first floor of the University Centre. Please avoid using strong scents/perfumes/colognes etc. before the panel for those with sensitivities!
