Workstudy* – Organizational & Library Support

General tasks and responsibilities
o Become familiar with policies, document that relate to the position and work at OPIRG.
o Attend a “consensus decision-making” and “anti-oppression” trainings
o Participate in the maintenance of the office and work spaces.
o Prepare a final report to the Organization Coordinator (OPD) and Board of Directors.

Organizational Support
o Office Reception: Greet and assist OPIRG visitors and members by phone and in person
o Filing: Work with the OPD to manager the OPIRG archives and filing systems
o Meeting Prep: Work with OPD to prepare for Board-related meetings (include regular, committee and annual general meetings)
o Document Prep: Support the work of the OPD to edit and print documents (including Annual Action Report, Board minutes, Board manuals, Policy manuals)
o Partner Support: Provide support for OPIRG Campus and Community Partners in consultation with the OPD (editing, document design, printing, event posting, etc).

Library Support
o Check in and out library materials
o Greet and work with OPIRG members to answer questions about the library and office.
o Refer complex questions to appropriate staff members
o Sort and re-shelve returned library items
o Work to ensure order and good condition of materials in the library

Preferred Qualifications
o Demonstrated interest in environmental justice, social justice and anti-oppression issues
o Strong English written communication skills
o Dependability, flexibility and good interpersonal and communication skills
o Computer use, excel, word, email
o Attention to detail
o Ability to work without close supervision and engage in problem solving
o Job task planning and organizing
o Availability during OPIRG -Guelph office hours (currently Monday thru Thursday 10:30am to 4:30pm)
o Experience working in a public service capacity, an asset.

Preferred Hours
10 hours/week
