  • Become familiar with relevant OPIRG policies and procedures relating to the workplace and programming
  • Work with Speed River Project Coordinator to plan, promote, deliver and evaluate river rehabilitations events.
  • Prefer to work outside environment to plan and implement and evaluate Speed River Project’s Tree planting and park maintenance events
  • Work with OPIRG Speed River project’s volunteers to deliver tree planting events around Speed and Eramosa river park around Guelph
  • Assist to develop and distribute events flyer and promotional materials
  • Assist to reorganized and label all tools for inventory and help to updates display board
  • Assist in office reception duties (answering phones, assisting visitors, etc.)
  • Work with the Speed River Project Coordinator to create a promotional plan for the Speed River Project new banner
  • To post events in Speed River Project event

Scheduling Details:

  • 1-10 hours per week
  • Availability during OPIRG Guelph office hours (Summer hours currently Tuesday thru Thursday 10:30am to 4:30pm).

Required Qualifications

  • Demonstrated interest in social, and environmental justice
  • Ability to work without close supervision and engage in problem-solving
  • Knowledge of anti-oppression theories and ability to put that knowledge to use in the OPIRG environment
  • Knowledge and interest on land and water ecosystem, environmental justice
  • Knowledge and interest of native plant species will be extra assets
  • Ability to work flexible hours (including evenings and weekends)
  • Enthusiastic and approachable
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively
  • Strong oral and written communication skills in English
  • Ability to use Facebook and other social media as a promotional tool

Preferred Qualifications

  • Comfort with basic graphic design an asset

These jobs are 10 hours per week for 10 weeks (12 June – 16 August) and the pay is $16.40 per hour.
