The final workshop of the 2016 Summer Institute will explore what coalition building and solidarity can look like. We will discuss power dynamics, holding each other accountable and building trust. Through these discussions we hope to identify transformative ways to move forward.

***** This is a two part workshop, running from 5:30-8:30pm on July 19 (UC 442) and 20 (UC 103). If you can only come to part one that is okay! Part two is only open to participants who attended part one.

Facilitators: Shabina Lafleur-Gangji and Galme Yasmin Mumed

Shabina Lafleur-Gangji  is a mixed race cis lady living in Guelph. She has been involved in many different social justice and liberation orientated projects, actions and events over the last ten years in Guelph and surrounding areas. She believes that honest, sincere and accountable relationships are the foundation for building solidarity amongst various communities.

Galme Yasmin Mumed  is a product of the Ethiopian Diaspora. She is a black Muslim woman who is dedicated to the liberation of black people everywhere. She believes that white supremacy and all the things that work together to fuel that system are not natural and therefore can be broken.
